Contract Details and Role in Provisions of Works and Services
Originally contracted to install the tailings and reclaim piping, Systematic was subsequently contracted to complete the installation of a Glycol heating loop and assist with the installation for Gekko Systems supplied equipment. Systematic maintains a small presence on site to date assisting with the continuous improvement of operations by providing rigging, welding, millwrighting, and pipefitting services.
Systematic installed reclaim and tailings piping from the services building to a tailings impounding area 2.5 km away. The Tailings piping required and installation of 3800 meters of 200 mm SDR HDPE insulated and heat traced for winter conditions while the reclaim piping was 2400 km of 150mm sch 40 steel pipe. The installation took place outdoors over the winter season in Nunavut which required extra precautions and planing to account for frigid temperatures and reduced daylight hours.
Several hundred feet of HDPE pipe was assembled and joined using electrofusion pipe fittings to supply glycol to unit heaters and hot water heat exchangers throughout the facility. Systematic was also involved in the installation or replacement of process piping for the various stages ore processing. The process of grinding and sizing, leaching or adsorption, and subsequently, recovery require the handling of slurry and water piping or an acid, caustic or other chemical piping.
